Car Ends Up In Creek

Posted on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014

An accident that led to a car flipping upside down in a creek in Sacramento, California, sent two people to the hospital, according to recent reports. Witnesses stated that a small Chevy sedan careened into the creek, flipped upside down, and came to rest, trapping two people inside.

When police arrived on the scene, the sedan was upside down and there were two people inside the vehicle who needed assistance. However, witnesses reported seeing a third passenger exit the vehicle, splash around the creek, then walk away. Law enforcement looked for the third person, but has since called off the search. The two people left inside the vehicle were taken to a local hospital and treated for minor to moderate injuries. No details of the types of injures were given.

Sgt. Bryce Heinlein from the Sacramento Police Department stated that the vehicle was upside down when they first arrived on the scene and that the two people in the car were “very lucky to be alive and were able to walk away from this accident.” Officers say that the situation could have been much worse for the two passengers.

Police are investigating whether the occupants of the vehicle were under the influence of drugs and alcohol during the time of the crash. The investigation is currently ongoing and no details have been released.

Rollover Crashes Result in High Fatality Rates

According to the US Department of Transportation, fatality rates for rollover crashes are much higher than for other types of collisions. Fully one-third of all car accident fatalities are related to rollover crashes.

Passengers in vehicles that are involved in rollover accidents may sustain injuries related to the crash. Medical bills and expenses can pile up quickly if steps are not taken to recover compensation for the crash. An investigation should be conducted quickly to ensure that any victims in the crash are not left with mounting bills and untreated injuries.
