Police have announced the arrest of a Modesto couple, Israel Alcazar, 34, and his wife Isabel Soto-Mondragon, 20, on drug charges stemming from massive amounts of heroin discovered in a baby’s diaper box.
According to reports, the couple was driving with their 10-month-old baby when they were pulled over. During the traffic stop, a K-9 alerted officers to the scent of drugs in the car. When police investigated they found 26 pounds of heroin in a diaper box. The street value is estimated to be more than $2.3 million. As a result of the find, police got a search warrant to search the couples’ home. There they found a gun and other evidence of drug sales including $1,200 in cash.
The 10-month old baby was taken by child protective services and placed in protective custody.
